RECIPE
- 14 oz. of firm tofu (cut in 4 pieces)
- 2 cups (500 ml) of vegetable oil
- Fried dried chilies
- 6 oz. of Thai 3 Wheels Pad Thai sauce
- 6 oz. of water
- 2 tbsp. of soy sauce
- ½ tsp. of salt
- Cilantro for garnish
- 1 cup of steamed Jasmin rice (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium high heat. The oil temperature should be around 350 F for deep frying.
- Add 2 pieces of tofu at a time in a pot and deep fry until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining tofu.
- To make the tamarind glaze, combine Pad Thai sauce, soy sauce and water in a sauce pan and stirring over medium heat for 3-4 mins or until the mixture becomes sticky. Then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 mins.
- Add fried dried chilies, salt and tofu in step 3 sauce pan. Then coat the tofu with the sauce.
- Place the tofu on a serving plate and garnish with cilantro. Enjoy it as an appetizer or serve with steamed Jasmin rice.
